TORRECHIARA FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA
CARLO
PIAZZA, conductor
With a special guest appearance by
MICHELE PERTUSI
Overtures and arias from the operas of Gioachino Rossini
FESTIVAL DI TORRECHIARA 2003
A
date with Gioachino Rossini’s music has already become an agreeable
habit for Torrechiara Festival goers. The stars of this “Gala” – showcasing
overtures and arias from the best known Rossini operas: The Barber of
Seville, The Italian Girl in Algiers, The Thieving Magpie, William Tell
– are without doubt the most suited to this repertoire in which they
have enjoyed great critical and public success on the stages of the
world’s most renowned opera houses. The “Guardian Angel” of the evening
is Michele Pertusi, probably the
best bass for Rossini (but not exclusively) of our time who, once again,
is our very special guest of honour.
Annamaria
Dell’Oste - soprano
Born in Udine,
Annamaria Dell’Oste first studied singing at the “J. Tomadini” Conservatory
in her home town. Having moved to Parma she achieved brilliant results
at the “A. Boito” Conservatory under the guidance of Jenny Anvelt. This
was followed by courses in style and interpretation with the celebrated
soprano Renata Scotto at Nuoro.
Among the
important opera productions in which she has taken part we are reminded
of: The Incoronation of Poppea (maestro Alberto Zedda) and Armide

of the Rose at the “G. Verdi” theatre, Triest; The Abduction from the
Seraglio and The Italian Girl in Algiers productions at the Regio theatre
in Parma. She also sung the world premiere of the opera Outis by Luciano
Berio, directed by Graham Vick at La Scala, Milan.
Her international
career has seen her perform, among others, at the Vienna State Opera

Boulez’s Intercontemporain Ensemble; at the Liceu Grand Theatre in Barcelona
